Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

The Sun - Risk to health?

Exposure to strong sunlight may cause
sunburn or sunstroke. It is also clear
that sustained exposure to sunlight can
cause premature ageing of the skin and
 some forms of skin cancer.

Strong sunlight is not common in this
country and many Britons do not have
any idea of the potential dangers that
exposure to the sun can cause.

   Fair skinned individuals are more
vulnerable to the ultra-violet rays in
sunlight and are more easily burnt than
 those with darker complexions. Fair
skins can slowly develop resistance to
 ultra violet light.
