Measles is not just a mild childhood
illness, it is an unpleasant and often
serious condition which can lead to
pneumonia, dehydration, convulsions and
even brain damage. Each year many
children are admitted to hospital with
measles.
The combined MMR vaccine has been
used in the USA for many years and is
very safe and effective. A small number
of children get a mild feverish illness
about 7 to 10 days after the injection.
Ask your health visitor or doctor if
you have any worries about MMR.
