 Who remembers Newsdesk stories peppered
 with ad-flashes and routes to the      
 advertising database?                  
                                        
 The perceived cost of using an online  
 service often in my view obscured the  
 real value of Micronet. The incredibly 
 hostile response by many to the issue  
 of a couple of pennies a minute on the 
 tariff wounded Micronet badly, but it  
 could be argued that those who objected
 simply weren't facing reality.         
                                        
 Unfortunately the withdrawal of        
 unmonitored interactive services like  
 the Chatlines came at a time when the  
 Net was just recovering nicely from...
