The Health Visitor A Health Visitor is a state registered nurse with extra maternity experience who has also spent time at a university or polytechnic studying child care. While most of a health visitor's work is with families with children under 5, in many areas they can also visit the elderly in some circumstances. Your health visitor is able to advise you on infant feeding, vaccination and general child care. She can also help with advice on family planning, welfare benefits, housing problems, play groups day nurseries and child minding.
