Dialling Prestel
Prestel offers local-call access from
anywhere in the country, provided you
dial the correct number! There are
several different numbers, depending on
which telephone exchange you're
dialling from.
So, if you move house (or want to dial
Prestel while in another part of the
country) your "original" number may not
work.
In addition, phone lines do break down
from time to time. You may discover, on
ringing your local access number, that
it doesn't work.
Both of these problems can be avoided
with a little forethought.
