Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

Alcohol and Society - the future

Despite all the recent research in
this country and abroad, there has been
very little progress in the treatment
 of alcoholism.

    Treatment methods are expensive in
terms of time and resources. Evidence
has shown that the results of treatment
are often depressingly poor with many
 people returning to their previous
drinking patterns. For this reason, if
funds are short, alcohol treatment will
feature low in the list of priorities.

Prevention is always better than a
cure and becomes even more important
 when treatment is unsatisfactory.
