It has been estimated that as many
as 200 non-smokers each year die from
the effects of breathing in other
people's cigarette smoke. Others suffer
unnecessary effects.
There is significantly more
respiratory disease in the children of
smokers and these children have an
increased chance of requiring admission
to hospital.
As there is a clear link between
tobacco and cancer, we should take as
much care to avoid it as we do with
asbestos. Non-smokers must be allowed
the right to clean air in their places
of work.
