Recent reports have shown a highly
significant increase in smoking-related
deaths in the close relatives of heavy
smokers, even if they do not themselves
smoke.
This confirms that there is a risk
to non-smokers inhaling tobacco smoke
in the air.
It is very difficult for non-smokers
to avoid this risk if they live or work
with heavy smokers. Smokers should be
made aware of the risk they are posing
to others and this should be made clear
in the official health warnings on
packets and in advertising.
