Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

      Many people are concerned about
additives. This is partly because of a
move towards healthier eating and the
belief that the more 'natural' a food
is, the better it is for you.

Since January 1983 the law has
 required manufacturers to comply with
regulations on food labelling, in line
with EEC practice. This has resulted in
more complete lists of ingredients with
many items described by a serial number
 or an unfamiliar chemical name.

      Details about quantities, storage
 conditions and consumption dates must
also feature on the labels of most food
