The ozone layer A layer of ozone in the upper atmosphere protects the earth from the effects of ultra-violet radiation from the sun. There is evidence to suggest that this layer is being disrupted. If more ultra violet radiation reaches the surface of the earth, the climate may be affected and skin cancers are likely to increase.
