Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

    Smoke

     Smoke pollution has been greatly
reduced now that much less coal is
burnt in homes. "Clean Air Acts" were
passed 30 years ago which insist on
smokeless fuel being used instead of
 coal in many areas.

Diesel engines can produce a good
deal of smoke, especially if they are
not properly adjusted. There is recent
 evidence suggesting that diesel fumes
are hazardous to health. All commercial
vehicles are checked for smoke emission
 every year.

Cigarette smoke in the air is very
 dangerous, even for non-smokers.
