    What treatment is available?

 a. diuretics (water tablets)
only on prescription. These work by
making you pass more urine. They might
be helpful if fluid retention is the
 only problem.

 b. hormone treatments
    only on prescription. There are
 several preparations available that may
be helpful. Some are tablets, some are
given as suppositories. Many women, who
also need contraception, find PMS less
severe when they are using the pill.

 c. Vitamins
    prescription not necessary. Vitamin
B6 (pyridoxine) has been shown to help
 many women with PMS.
