Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

Do note that this information is at least 20 years old.  Please do not rely on anything in here as current medical advice; for that please visit the NHS website.

   Eat less salt

A little salt is necessary for health
but recent studies suggest that we eat
much more than we need. Too much salt
may lead to high blood pressure, heart
 disease and strokes.

Some salt occurs naturally in food,
more may be added when it is prepared
and many add salt to food at the table.

Watch out for salt in processed foods
 (even apparently sweet products). Read
the label and look for products with no
 added salt.

Aim to cut down by gradually reducing
salt added in cooking and at the table.
